Jo-Anne Muise Lawless, PhD
Trauma recovery coaching can be an effective tool to respond to life-altering events. These are cataclysmic discoveries that change a person’s life in profound ways.
Through a client-led process, guided by your needs and goals, Jo-Anne focuses on the unique and complex situation of trauma survivors. As a trauma recovery coach, she does not pathologize trauma responses. Instead, she recognizes that you are having normal reactions to abnormal experiences.
Using talk therapy and somatic modalities, Jo-Anne can assist you in navigating past and present trauma, and will work with you to forge a sense of equilibrium.
Serving clients across Canada and internationally, Jo-Anne Muise Lawless is certified with the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching, with a specialization in the trauma associated with a Not-Parent-Expected (NPE) event, such as a surprise DNA discovery or finding out later in life that you were adopted, donor-conceived, or switched at birth. Before turning to trauma recovery coaching as a career, Jo-Anne was an adjunct professor of law, concentrating on the legislative and constitutional issues facing Indigenous peoples in Canada. Her own family’s experience in dealing with the ramifications of an NPE make her uniquely suited to offer coaching to those facing various surprise discoveries regarding the circumstances of their birth.
